In this 8-week course, students will learn the fundamentals of the most exciting and expressive part of painting: color and light. Color is such an instinctual thing, and it can be difficult to know how to find a foundation of theory to back up the intuition. Through lectures, demos, and exercises designed to target these gaps in knowledge, students will learn how to turn intuition into confidence.

Date & Time: Every Sunday, starting the 15th January at 11am-3pm EST
Skill level: All skill levels welcome
Tiers: Receive feedback and participate or spectate (Spectators will usually have time to ask questions at the end of each class)
Format: 4 hour live class with combination of lectures, demos, and feedback. Recordings will be provided within 24 hours of each class.
Materials: Any digital or traditional mediums. Paintovers will be done digitally.

Week 4: Everything is bounce light!
Week 5: Limited palette & gamut mapping, master painting analysis, and the importance of greys
Week 6: Overcast vs. sunny lighting
Week 7: Exploring different lighting scenarios on a landscape
Week 8: Final demo, Q&A
Going by Seven Deven online, Justine is a French background artist working in the film industry. Justine has worked for studios including CRCR, Axis Animation, Passion Pictures, Chez Eddy, La Chouette Compagnie, and Deux Minutes. She has worked on movies such as: Calamity by Rémi Chayé, The Summit of The Gods by Patrick Imbert, and the upcoming Mars Express by Jeremie Perrin.
