Learn how to paint over Blender 3D renders to make engaging stylized environment design! Join Ulysse in this 8-week class and learn the all of the important 2D and 3D fundamentals for environment concept art and design. If you’ve ever wanted to introduce Blender into your painting workflow, this class is for you. There will be a combination of demos, lectures and homework assignments that we’ll review in class.
We’ll cover:
• Stylization fundamentals
• Necessary 2D skills for effective 3D use
• Blender/3D Basics (modeling, texturing, lighting)
• Painting over 3D renders
Duration: 8 weeks
Date & Time: Starts Sunday, March 24th, every Sunday at 8:00 AM Eastern
Skill level: All skill levels welcome, no experience with 3D or Blender is ok
Tiers: Receive feedback or spectate without homework feedback. Critiques may be given asynchronously if live class can’t be attended.
Format: 4-5 hour live class with combination of lectures, demos, and feedback. Recordings will usually be provided within 24 hours of each class.
Materials: Digital painting software, Blender (free download).
All weeks will be a combination of lecture, demos and feedback.

Week 2: Analyze and Stylize – How to Interpret References (2D)
Week 3: Environment concepts – a Bridge to 3D (2D)
Week 4: Blender Basics – Interface and Overview (3D)
Week 5: Asset Creations – going further with materials and modeling (3D)
Week 6: Assembling the scene – assets, lights, camera, and render. (3D)
Week 7: How to paint over 3D – blending both worlds (2D + 3D)
Week 8: Going further with the painting – the stylization journey (2D + 3D)
