STUDENT EXPERIENCES

“I came into this class feeling stuck. I had just graduated from game development school, where I was solely focused on building my portfolio, without thinking as much about what I enjoy about art. It felt strange because I felt more creative than ever, yet everything I worked on seemed unsuccessful.

“Through this class, I learned that what’s more important than just getting hired is developing your artistic voice through your work. That’s when you start attracting the kind of jobs you want. By leaning into my inking style and creating more thoughtful designs, I think I’ve begun to discover what makes my art and world-building style unique.”
Kelsey Haynes-Sunayama

“It was really inspiring to meet such great people with the same interests and the same tastes as I have. Every page of course materials Robbie prepared for us was incredibly useful and inspiring. I like the way he instills the love for beauty to students and I think it’s really important thing in skill growing. I can’t help but notice how Robbie helped us to generate new ideas to develop our worlds by good communication, but the very important moment is that every student kept their own voice and visual style. The course is very dense, every week we had completely new homework and in the end I have a lot of material to refine, but still it was interesting to look at familiar things in a new way in context of worldbuilding and it was important to cover every aspect of it.”
